Bhuj The Pride of india

  • Watched this movie "Bhuj The Pride of India" on Hotstar.
  • I am Indian and so I liked the movie.
  • Same I cannot say for other nationalities.
  • But if you like "action movies" you may like it.
  • Hand to hand combat, aerial dog fights, Tank fights, gun fire etc all are shown.
  • Non stop action is shown.
  • Keeps you in edge of the seat.
  • Compared to Shahenshah which was in disputed part which is "Line of Control" and Bell Bottom which was anti-hijacking measures in foreign country, this movie deals with Indian territory and any country invading Indias International border like shown in he movie will face the wrath of the Armed forces and/or Indian citizens.
  • This movie has shown some scenes more dramatically but more or less historically it would happened as shown in the movie.
  • Movie shows scenes in a timeline.
    • India is attacked is shown
    • But then they go to flashback where West Pakistan has already lost East Pakistan and India has already damaged Karachi port.
    • Indian lady spy has also killed a top Pakistani officer is shown.
  • In desperate measure Pakistan attacks Kutch in addition to Longewala and submarine PNS Ghazi attempts to attack Indias only aircraft carrier.
  • Thus Pakistan has got just three options as mentioned above.
  • We know what happened at Longewala is shown in 1996 Border movie.
  • What happened to PNS Ghazi is shown in the 2017 movie Ghazi.
  • This movie concludes the trilogy with Bhuj and what happened at Kutch.
  • Thus this movie and story happened when India had already won 90 percent of the 1971 war.
  • I would say worth watching for equitable story from both sides of border.

World Changed in 2014-15

  • I will say the world changed in 2014-15 for better or for worse.
  • We just do not realise it yet.
  • But we do know certain things.
  • We know that change is a part of of life and we must keep changing to adapt to new world.
  • Then there is the counter narrative that the more the world changes the more it remains the same.
  • Now let us think what happened in 2014-15 which makes me say that the world changed.
  • The below points may not be exhaustive but those happened.
    • First Modi became PM of India in winds of change.
      • Modi is a PM who engaged with world leaders in unconventional ways like no leader from India or elsewhere could have dared.
      • Modi called President Obama Barack like he was his chum or pal.
      • He called PM of South Korea to Varanasi and did Ganga Aarti under sound and light show.
      • He called President of China to Ahmedabad and played "jhoola" with him.
      • He went to Japan and played drums or should I say hijacked the drums show. He knows drums are traditional instruments in every part of India including tribal societies and so it is in Japan villages where those are used to invoke the deities.
      • He called Putin to Goa.
      • He called President of China again to Mahabalipuram near Chennai where he greeted him wearing South Indian dress "Lungi".
      • Modi Govt had done one India-Africa summit and I remember the logo. The logo was such that entire Africa was smaller than India in the logo. Tell me is it even possible. Is it a joke. India in area would be lesser area than just two or three countries of Africa (lets say Libya and Algeria which are together bigger in area than entire India). There are several more countries in Africa.
      • He called Trump to Ahmedabad, Agra and Delhi and Trump attended like he was Modi's slave. During that time there was mini-genocide taking place in Delhi and Trump could do nothing.
      • He visited numerous foreign countries including European countries and "took over" their parliaments or auditoriums like he was their leader and not Indian leader.
      • He did "fake surgical strikes" and caused Indians to rejoice in joy who thought it to be true and became overwhelmed with passion.
      • Modi was phenomena which happened in 2014.
    • Second Modi opened the internet for Hotstar which came in 2015 beginning.
      • Paved the way for other OTT platforms like Prime Video and Netflix.
      • This was a very big change.
      • Earlier we used to watch in movie theatres or Satellite TV or buy DVDs original of which were too costly. Or watch duplicate CD or DVDs which were like "hall prints".
      • The alternate was download "illegally" on internet. "Illegally" because legal way was just not available.
      • We could download and watch "offline".
      • What we did we saved the file as MP4 or video file and then copied it using CD or pen drive.
      • And then watch on computer or laptop.
      • Mobiles were too small to have big displays and thus were not preferable option.
      • Or we could watch "online" on streaming mode again through "illegal sites". (Sites like Putlocker) I still have saved those bookmarks. I doubt if those be still working anymore.
      • We used to watch online "illegally" because legal way to watch those online were simply not available.
      • legally what was available were sites like "movieflix.com" or related websites which had porn or old Band C grade movies. Movies which were not that famous.
      • From 2015 through internet streaming and apps and dowloading we can watch latest content without watching on Satellite TV or DVDs.
      • I had bought a Samsung Galaxy GT P 1000 in December 2010.
      • Now in 2021 August when I want to use it it is simply not working on internet.
      • It can be used as an offline media device. But Android is not working on that.
      • So I cannot download latest Google Play Store and watch Youtube.
      • Even in browser Youtube is not working.
      • But tell me is it even advisable.
      • Earlier RAM used to be 512 MB of 1 GB but now even in most basic phones we are getting 4 GB of RAM.
      • Many shops I contacted are unwilling to update the Galaxy Tab GTP1000 as they are telling the device can "go dead" during the update.
      • So I have the latest phones with 6GB, 4 GB and 8GB RAM and Prime Stick and Laptop and Computer which I can use to watch movies and video.
      • The Galaxy Tab which I had bought paying Rs30,000 (after discount) (Market Value was Rs 36000) in December 2010 is now worth Rs 600.
      • Yes people I checked in one shop where he said it can be updated but would cost Rs 3500 and have to paid upfront.
      • When I asked what will be the price if I sell it they said Rs600.
      • Such an old mobile/tablet is worth less. That is what time does to an equipment.
      • In 10-11 years (if not earlier) they lose all their value.
      • It is like old vehicle. Older the vehicle the lesser price you get. But thing is for vehicle you still get some value based on weight. But mobiles/tablets/laptops/computer become very close to zero value.
      • In Flipkart and Amazon if we exchange they will not accept. They will treat is as "any other phone" whose value is not more than Rs 500.
    • Third is series Ertugrul premiered in 2014 and continued for 5 seasons.
      • The effect of Ertugrul is that we get a view of world which we forget and that is the reign of Ottoman Empire which was there for more than 500 years in Middle East, Balkans, certain parts of Europe and North Africa.
    • Fourth would be the emergence of Chinese companies as numerouno in technology.
      • I do not say earlier Chinese were not there.
      • They were there but in shadows. Companies like ZTE or Huawei.
      • But following 2014-15, Chinese were everywhere.
      • Earlier Indian companies used to manufacture in China and sell in India.
      • Following 2014-15, Chinese companies entered the Indian market directly and gave affordable technologies to public which was earlier expensive from companies like Nokia, Samsung or Apple.
    • Fifth is Windows 10 which came in 2015 mid way.
      • Windows 10 is software which does not encourage piracy and encourages "copyright protection".
      • I can say that because I had TV tuner since 2005 which worked on Windows Xp and Windows 7 but did not work on Windows 10.
      • I guess Microsoft did not want content to be copied and transferred and uploaded using TV tuners.
      • I am not aware of any TV tuners which work on Windows 10.
      • Cut to 2021, Microsoft has withdrawn support for Windows 7.
  • What I mentioned as second point is the most important one I would say and for that this blog post is done.
  • Now Modi is doing "monetisation of assets".
    • Here Govt will remain owner but will hand over "assets of public" to private parties and they will collect money.
    • This is simply what is happening in Netflix or other OTT sites.  It is "Netflix model".
    • We pay a little amount and can enjoy the entire library of movies and show.
    • The movies are properties of respective producers unless Netflix produces it in which case it becomes owner.
    • Slowly Netflix realised that it is better that way and it became producer as well.
    • Now similarly in monetisation of assets, initially the private parties will remain like Netflix. They will collect using assets which are already there.
    • In future they will make their own assets and become owners. Trust me it is coming.
    • Even if Govt denies it, it will happen.
    • Ultimately the private parties will become the owner of public assets.
    • Just like Netflix or Hostar or Alt Balaji or Eros Now or Amazon produce their own content and become owners. They don't have to pay royalty to anyone.
  • This is what I meant the world has changed. Leaders may come and go but this "Netflix model" is here to stay.
    • You pay certain fees to use the service or "movie or show".
    • Downloading and watching using your own Media player is "history and passé"
    • You have to be "active subscriber" to watch or use the service.
    • You just cannot be an "offline user" without being an "active subscriber".
  • You can also compare it to Anti-Virus subscription. That is how world has changed. For better or for worse. Just think about it.

Toofan, Extinction, Shershaah

Watched three movies as mentioned above

Toofan

  • This movie was watched on Amzon Prime Video.
  • Amazing performance by Farhan Akhtar.
  • Other actors have also done good job.
  • Transformation of Farhan Akhtar is amazing.
  • From Goonda to boxer to overweight family man to boxer again is good enough.

Extinction

  • This movie was watched on Netflix.
  • This movie so attack on a planet in future.
  • Turns out the attackers are humans who want to take back the earth from robots and artificial intelligence who have won in an earlier war 50 years ago.
  • Movie is surprising due to the twist which you only realise when more than half of the movie is over.

Shershaah

  • This movie was watched on Amazon Prime Video.
  • This movie shows the "lethal face" of the Indian Army.
  • Earlier war movies seem tame as they show the "human face".
  • Earlier Indian war movies show people on both sides of the border as humans.
  • And Army to be considerate enough.
  • Here in this movie the Army is defined by "physical boundaries".
  • People "inside the boundary" are "their own" and outsiders are "the other".
  • That is hard reality shown in the movie.
  • Worth watching once I would say.

Bell Bottom, Conjuring, Demon Slayer : Mugen Train

Watched three movies as mentioned in the subject line.

Bell Bottom

  • This movie was watched at Gopalan Mall, Bannerghatta Road.
  • Movie is okay for a one time watch.
  • It is on the same pattern as Baby, Holiday, Airlift and numerous other Akshay Kumar hits.
  • Basically this movie has to be watched on elevated blood pressure levels.
  • When it is over your blood pressure can return to normal.

Conjuring

  • This movie was watched at PVR Forum Mall.
  • Movie is okay for a one time watch.
  • Not much chills in the movie.
  • But the director does this deliberately.
  • He does not want people to have heart attacks in thetres due to scary moments.
  • Hence Director has to make judgement and keep balance.

Demon Slayer : Mugen Train

  • This Japanese animation movie was watched at PVR Orion Mall.
  • Movie is okay.
  • I almost fell asleep in the movie hall.
  • But is not fault of the movie.
  • I guess I am not used to watching animation movies.
  • Movie deals with the eternal struggle between demons and demon slayers.
  • Demons are like immortals but they cannot work in day.
  • Demon slayers are humans and cannot regenerate their tissues like demons.
  • Hence they are vulnerable.

Old Budget Phones vs New Budget Phones

  • The topic of this post is old budget phones vs new budget phones.
  • What I want to say earlier both types of phones were available, namely expensive phones and cheap phones.
  • When I say cheap phones, I mean budget phones.
  • Earlier for less price we used to get phones which "really budget".
  • Those phones were lacking in looks, feature and were small and tacky looking.
  • These days we are getting phones which look the same.
  • Means expensive phones which are very powerful looks similar to budget phones with less computing power.
  • That is the great difference between now and a few years back.
  • And one phenomena which is responsible for this is China.
  • China has not only made high technology really common and affordable, it has also made possible what I mentioned above.
  • Same type of good looking phone but with relatively less power is affordable, means real cheap.
  • Soem people may not need a high computing power phone.
  • They may need a phone which can carry out basic computing or other functions and that is enough for them.
  • But thing is that it should look good.
  • No use if we get a phone which is small and tacky or with small display or with keypads and so on.
  • We should get a phone which is as good looking as a very expensive phone and can carry out functions which the user wants.
  • And that China and Chinese technology makes it possible.
  • It may look same from outside but from inside phones which are powerful will cost more.
  • Thus "good looking things" are still affordable for "common men".
  • They are not priced so high that they cannot be afforded.
  • China makes it possible.
  • Just think about it.
  • What I said about phones may be applicable to all technology items.
  • Or perhaps even basic items.
  • Affordability is the key here.

Afghanistan, Pakistan, India

  • This blogpost is to highlight the deep relationship between India, Pakistan and India.
  • It has more to do with culture, history and race then physical boundaries.
  • Remember each of the country has a 5000 year old history.
  • We may say how this is possible. When Pakistan and India were formed in 1947.
  • And Afghanistan in 1920's.
  • Thing is we have to go deeper into the soul of the countries.
  • These three countries have more in common than we would like to admit.
  • US invaded Afghanistan in the hope to "change the country".
  • But tell me USA is only about 300 years old.
  • While these countries have 5000 year old history.
  • If we deeply look at the history it was the birthplace of civilisation along with ancient civilastions like Mesopotamia and Egypt.
  • Ancient religions flourished the area much of which is now lost.
  • Then Buddhism emerged and almost all region was under Buddhism.
  • Then began Islam and "Hinduism revival".
  • But this Hinduism was different than what existed earlier to Buddhism.
  • No one really knows what happened.
  • This "new Hindusim" was like "militant Hinduism" and eliminated Buddhism in India though then Buddhism had already spread to East and South East Asia.
  • Okay maybe the link is lost with the past but the race and genes remain.
  • You can see in the way people walk, talk and behave.
  • It cannot be changed in one or two or three generations.
  • Several hundreds of years of struggle have shaped the people.
  • The USA can blow the countries to extinction by nuclear weapons and so.
  • But it cannot change them.
  • That is the hard fact.
  • USA cannot change Afghanistan without changing Pakistan.
  • USA cannot change Pakistan without changing India.
  • And I am not involving Myanmar, Bangladsh, Nepal or North East states of India which are unique in their own aspects.
  • The way forward is to acknowledge differences and still work together.
  • Differences cannot be a reason to wage war.
  • Also let us not forget that USA is a nation of immigrants itself.
  • It cannot isolate people else it would stagnate and become contaminated.
    • I recall an incident from my life when in hostel there was no water in hostel.
    • So there was water in a drum.
    • In emergency I took water from the drum and bathed.
    • But that water had worms..Yikes.
    • So I told a hostel mate about it.
    • His view was that since the water was stagnant worms can form easily.
    • In flowing water there is no germs or worms.
  • Thus what I want to highlight that US policy of isolating certain people from their main land is no good.
  • No Chinese! No Asians! No Indians! No Jews! No Muslims! No Mexicans!
  • These calls like above will do US no good.
  • In spite of withdrawing from various battlefield situations, US needs to "stay open" for the good of human race.
  • Isolationism by USA can lead to situation like "Hills have Eyes" movie situation where people had become deformed cannibals through in breeding and isolation.
  • So my main point differences are no reason for waging war and not trading with each other and imposing snctions and so on.
  • The way forward is to move forward together and not leave some behind.

Ertugrul Season 2

  • People I am pleased to inform that I have completed watching complete Season 2 of Ertugrul.
  • Lucky for me full episodes with English subtitles were available on Youtube.
  • When I started watching Ertugrul last year I was watching sometimes on Netflix where it was available.
  • Netflix cost was Rs 199 per month for the mobile plan.
  • Youtube is free. Though paid version of Youtube also costs about Rs 399 for 3 months.
  • But you can download on Youtube and turn the data off and watch without ads.
  • Ads show up only when data is on.
  • But I must say the video quality was better on Netflix.
  • There have been quite a few entries from me for Ertugrul views. I will list them below:
  • Entry 1 : Here
  • Entry 2 : Here
  • Entry 3 : Here
  • Entry 4 : Here
  • Entry 5 : Here
  • After watching the series, I must say I am looking forward to Season 3.
  • Before watching I did some research and found that Season 3 full episodes are not "oficially" uploded on Youtube.
  • But I found Season 3 episodes on Dailymotion.
  • In any case I can always watch on Netflix.
  • Season 2 ended with the death of Yigit in the hands of Emir Sadattein people.
  • I guess it was not possible to fit the young Seljuk Shahzada or Prince in the future story.
  • So director must have bumped him off.
  • Apart from Deli Demir death, in season 2 the deaths of Tugtekkin and Gokce Hatun was like tragedy.
  • I felt the biggest tagline from the Season 2 is that Ertugrul moves towards the Western border of Anatolia i.e. to the borders of erstwhile Byzantine empire and Constantinople.
  • Mongols are going to be left behind from now on.
  • And Ertugrul faced too much resistance from Seljuk Sultanate as well as his own Kayi tribe and Dodurga tribe for his Western move.
  • People who opposed him were his own people and tried to prevent him (in the Westward move).
  • That is the biggest conclusion.
  • Inspite of all obstacles we must try to move ahead and that is the conclusion we can draw.
  • Without that success will elude the person who strives for it.

Tomorrow War, Suicide Squad, Nobody

Watched three movies as mentioned in the subject line.
-------------------------------

Tomorrow War

  • This movie was watched on Amazon Prime Video.
  • This movie is worth watching.
  • Basically this movie consists of two parts.
  • One is how human race is defeated by Aliens who are somewhat like the Aliens from "Aliens movie". That is in the future.
  • The fight in the middle of the ocean is a perfect military operation which destroys humans in future and the hero cannot save the earth for humans.
  • Cut back to present and the hero and his team realise that there was no alien invasion but the threat was from within.
  • Due to thawing of Permafrost in Siberia, long buried spaceship surfaces and releases the aliens and they are able to destroy them before they can spread all around the world from Siberia.

---------------------------------

Suicide Squad

  • This movie was watched at Gopalan Cinemas, Bannerghatta Road.
  • I think this article sums this movie perfectly.
  • Link: RT Suicide Squad
  • This movie shows that America cannot be friend of any country.
  • Just because the rulers change, the entire nation becomes the enemy.
  • Parallel to what is happening in the real world.
  • Guess the movie shows Americans are not bad but their Govt does things without telling their public and some things they do is bad.
  • Movie is definitely worth watching.
  • It also shows time travel like what has happened a few minutes back or few hours back and then brings the story up to speed.
  • Movie has got comedy moments also.

--------------------------------------

Nobody

  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Forum Mall.
  • Too good movie.
  • This article is sums up perfectly: Link.
  • The actor Bob Odenkirk has done great job as ex CIA agent who is called at last resort when there is required for "leaving no trace".
  • He is known as "The Auditor" as he is the last person anyone wants to see.
  • He takes on Russian thugs due to incident on a bus.
  • Movie is worth watching for action sequences.
  • The villians have done great job.
  • This is also similar to Tomorrow War in the sense that the father comes back from retirement (in this movie from old age home) and helps his son in taking care of the bad guys.

The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Promising young Woman

Watched two movies as mentioned in the subject line.

The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

  • This movie was watched at PVR Forum Mall
  • I liked the movie.
  • Movie is comedy plus action and is a must-watch.
  • I have seen Part 1 of this movie and I must say this sequel stretches to the limit.
  • Crosses Part 1 in all aspects.

Promising young Woman

  • This movie was watched at PVR Vega City Mall.
  • Movie was boring at bits but when we saw in its entirety we realise it is a very good movie.
  • Movie like this can only be watched on the big screen.
  • Because if we see on small screen or mobile we may turn it off and never finish it.
  • Worth watching in the entirety.
  • If you get up and leave you miss the movie.
