Surkhaab, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge, In the Heart of The Sea

Watched three movies as mentioned in the subject line
Surkhaab : Was watched on Tata Sky Miniplex Channel. I liked the movie for the actress and since there are no actual adult scenes in the movie, it is only left to the imagination what could have been.
Wow she became a Nun
Dhoondte Reh Jaoge : Was watched on Tata Sky Miniplex Channel. I liked the movie for the comedy. Basically it is like Hollywood spoof movie where they take big blockbuster movies and then take few scenes from them and make it as comedy. In this movie they have taken Lagaan, Gadar, Sholay, Mr.India to name a few and made a full comedy movie.
In the Heart of The Sea : This movie was watched on Tata Sky Showcase HD Channel. Too good a movie. Supposedly this is a true story and Moby Dick novel was written from this story.
Few takeaways from the movie:
  • Just like these days people go after petroleum oil, in those days also people went after "whale oil".
  • It was before discovery of petroleum and before steam engine and "gold rush". It was before 'west was conquered'.
  • It shows how the communication improved in the world slowly and slowly and hats off to the pioneers who went to "unknown parts".
  • Sailors risked their lives and there was no guarantee they would survive a sea journey and return home alive.
  • Since Panama Canal is a recent development, we can imagine just how the need would have arisen for the same. Sailors from the US would have sailed all around South America only to realise that it was better to park their ships on the other side of the ocean and return by land and get on another boat. We can fit this story in other parts of the world as well like Asia and Africa.
  • Thus what we can conclude that people would have been required to guard those ships and ports and then "military would have been required" to guard the bases. These bases would then have become a "necessity" rather than an "imperialistic mindset". It would take brains to understand this.
  • So what we can say, what Britain and US among others accomplished by capturing territories through military is nothing short of a miracle. It is due to the efforts of hundreds of thousands of braveheart men.
  • Some brutal things like "people dying of hunger in remote islands after getting shipwrecked" and survivors resorting to cannibalism in raft boats also shown.
  • Money and promotion were also important in those days it is shown.
