Maharashtra politics observations

  • This post is dedicated to Maharashtra politics.
  • What happened in Maharashtra over past few days is simply unbelievable.
  • Maharashtra is a big state in fact a very big state.
  • It stretches from Vidarbha to Marathwada to Konkan.
  • In fact I had the opportunity to travel to Ganpatipule and Mahabaleshwar and it was an experience.
  • I must say to govern such a huge state you have to have two options.
  • Either divide the state into smaller units else people of diverse backgrounds need to come together.
  • What has just happened. People of diverse backgrounds came together. Like Shiv Sena,  Congress and NCP.
  • One size fits all will not work in Maharashtra.
  • That was what BJP and RSS were offering.
  • One size fits all may work in any other state but definitely not in Maharashtra.
  • BJP was in power in 2014 to 2019 and people  have seen what they offer.
  • Promises Vs what was actually offered there is a lot of difference.
  • Now in 2019 BJP is raising the issue of farmer distress bloody who is responsible.
  • You BJP are in power in both Center and State of Maharashtra and now after not solving farmers issue you raise the bogey of farmers. Shame on you.
  • I had a feeling that BJP when it issued Presidents Rule in Maharashtra would want to apply "Kashmir formula" in Maharashtra.
  • Meaning "keep it under Presidents rule for extended period and then split the state into two or three parts"
  • The BJP has always been in favour of small states.
  • They feel they would be easier to manage plus it would suit them as they can "manage" the opposition and "manipulate the public" quite well in a small state.
  • Then I looked up the numbers and found that BJP has faltered in its traditional strong areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada were the Congress and NCP have won handsomely.
  • Certainly then applying the Kashmir solution was out of the question.
  • They could have done but without public support that could have resulted in Civil unrest and possibly Civil war in India's most prosperous state.
  • Hence what has happened in right.
  • When initially Ajit Pawar went with BJP it appeared that entire NCP was with them and then it appeared that Amit Shah with or without Shared Pawar had played a masterstroke and had done surgical strike at enemy camp which means opposition  camp.
  • Then Ajit Pawar resigned after BJP hastily dropped all the charges against him and BJP was left red faced with Fadnavis left with no option but to resign.
  • Fadnavis I must confess was looking like a school boy during his swearing in while the Governor was looking like the Principal.
  • It was nothing but a mockery of democracy.
  • I must say that when Ajit Pawar returned the truth was out that it was Shared Pawar who has done the surgical strike on BJP camp.
  • He actually went inside the BJP camp destroyed them from inside and returned.
  • He was like "Tanhaji" in new Ajay Devan movie.
  • It was a real surgical strike.
  • Now if the alliance sticks together for five years my respect for Marathis and people of Maharashtra can only increase.
  • They would have then proved that they are the real descendants of the Marathas  who resisted Mughal rule from Delhi and protected the South and Deccan from North.
  • The BJP are worse than the Mughals but they are ruling from the North and that is where the similarity ends.
  • And if the alliance sticks together means BJP cannot divide the state on the lines of Kashmir and Kashmir formula cannot be applied in Maharashtra and Maharashtra will stay united as one.

Pagalpanti

  • Watched this movie Pagalpanti at Inox.
  • I liked the movie.
  • Full enjoyment.
  • Initially I did not like the movie, means immediately.
  • But now I think about the same and find it is a perfect movie.
  • Nirav Modi and Mehul Chokshi are the villains in the movie.
  • I mean the movie is full of villians.
  • One beating the other but they are the super villains.
  • All the heroes have good screen presence and deserve more roles.

China vs India problems

  • This blog is dedicated to the Hong Kong crisis which China is facing and problems that India is facing like in Kashmir, Urban Naxals and the like.
  • I will say that India problems and China problems are totally different.
  • Like let us take the case of Hong Kong.
  • When Hong Kong reverted back to China from British rule in 1997, Hong Kong was more developed than China.
  • At that time people from China were flocking to Hong Kong.
  • It was a magnet or Mecca so as to speak.
  • Now fast forward 20+ years and China has developed in ways which can't be imagined.
  • No Chinese now would want to go to Hong Kong to improve his standard of living.
  • China is developing in ways that many countries (including India) can only dream of.
  • And where is Hong Kong?
  • Hong Kong is no longer the "magnet" it once was and hence is "left behind".
  • They will have to be happy to 'maintain there standard of living' which is getting increasingly diificult.
  • And hence the conflict and protest.
  • Part of it is funded by Western powers who are jealous of China's rise in the world.
  • Now problems of India are exactly opposite.
  • India as a country is not growing as China and growth may be due to large corporation s or fudging of numbers.
  • In other words India has nothing to offer except despair and suffocation.
  • That is why there is anti India or anti Govt demonstration whether in Kashmir or North East or Naxals or Urban Naxals.
  • You are with us or against us will not work in India case.
  • Because with us means poverty and no development.
  • It is not like China or what happened in post World War in South Korea or Japan or Western Europe.
  • That is the difference of China and India problems.

Charlie's Angels, Bala, Marjawan

Watched three movies as mentioned in the subject line.
Charlie's Angels
This movie was watched at Inox.
I liked this movie as a popcorn flix.
You watch this movie while munching popcorn and you have a good time.
Do not play much importance to the storyline and stuff.
Bala
This movie was watched at Inox.
I liked the movie so much.
I will give it 5 star rating.
Once again Ayushman Khurana proves that he is the man.
Definitely worth watching.
Marjawan
This movie was watched at Single screen hall.
I liked the movie.
The actors have done tremendous roles.
This movie shows that the world we live in is "Mrytyuloka" means those who are born here are bound to do.
We may hide from it or escape it but that is only temporary and ultimate reality and we cannot escape it.
We have to realize it sooner rather than later.
Our time of death may differ meaning what age we die will differ.
Also what causes the death may differ.
But reality is we will all die.
That is shown in the movie.
Hence this is worth watching.
To realize the truth.

Travel and stay at places

  • Earlier I used to like travel to different places and stay at different places.
  • That was the situation for much of my life.
  • I used to go by Sleeper train, land at a place and then walk down to nearest lodge or hotel and stay in the room and in subsequent days explore the city.
  • I have gone like that to Bangalore (1996 and 2002), Calcutta (1996 and 2004), Delhi (2004), Hyderabad (1996 and 2002), Chennai (2002), Mumbai (1998), Visakhapatnam (1996 and 2002), Vijaywada (2003), Goa (2004), Pune (2003).
  • Then once I got used to staying at one place it did not interest me anymore.
  • Then I had broadband connection at home and that was where the heart is.
  • Sometimes I wish to go back to the places where I was to see how things have changed.
  • For that to go back where I was is it worth to travel in Sleeper and stay in not so good hotels?
  • I don't think so.
  • Even if I travel in Sleeper class, I need to stay in rooms which are at least little bit decent.
  • Nowadays when trains have bio toilets and we can see potty swimming in the toilets. Earlier they used to fall through the train below and at least it was hygenic or seemed so unless the water got finished and potty stuff was all around the toilet seat.
  • Now if a long journey in train is nothing short of a nightmare.
  • Better to starve yourself and not use the potty.
  • Okay you reach a place through difficult means and then stay in a decent place by spending quite a bit of money. Maybe not very but still too much.
  • Now what you do? After three four days you roam around and then you need to return from wherever you came from.
  • Is it worth it?
  • To travel to a place where "you were" and find out what has changed in the meantime.
  • And then return to a place where you "are" and get on with your lives.
  • That is the full confusion in life.
  • Also if the place is not decent there is no need to stay. That is what I feel.
  • If you have a Club or Resort membership you may chose to stay in affiliated resort and enjoy luxury and that will make it worth it.
  • Else you may stay in decent hotels and spend considerable amounts.
  • But is it worth to travel on a shoestring budget so as to speak.
  • Not to a new place because that desire is no longer there but to places where you were or where you have been.

Tipu Sultan the hero from Mysore

  • Recently I heard about Tipu Sultan controversy happening in Karnataka and elsewhere.
  • Then I did some research which basically included reading about Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan on Wikipedia.
  • I also read about Anglo Mysore wars and Mysore Maratha wars.
  • Also linked to above  are French-British wars and Anglo Dutch wars and of course Napoleon Bonaparte.
  • That more research is required but what I must say is that everything is linked and the present can be traced to the past.
  • I will like to say that though Tipu Sultan is controversial he is a hero.
  • He is brave hero and the present day Karnataka state owes it's existence to Tipu Sultan.
  • He was not working for unity of the country as we know of it today which is India.
  • But he was working for freedom and independence of his own Kingdom of Mysore.
  • The fact is even after Tipu Sultan was killed in battle with the British, the British preferred to not incorporate Mysore into Madras state like it happened to Nizam state or the territory under the Marathas.
  • This "quasi-independence" which Mysore state enjoyed immediately following the death of Tipu gave rise to present day Karnataka which is able to stand on its own.
  • British never had the guts to incorporate Mysore with their own Madras Presidency. And it is due to severest fight given by Mysore by Tipu Sultan.
  • Karnataka got chance to fully integrate with India only post independence.
  • And today Karnataka is home to people from all over the country as well as the world.
  • Without heroic fight of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, Karnataka would have been swamped by Telugus and Tamils and be part of Madras state which did not happen.
  • Else Karnataka would have swamped by Marathas from up North.
  • Mysore was at war with Marathas, Nizam as well as British during Tipu Sultan time.
  • Hence we have to appreciate what has happened in history and not force distorted versions.
  • Particularly those versions which were written by British appointed writers sought to demonise Tipu following his defeat to show that British rule was better.
  • Under Tipu Sultan the Mysore state was the most developed portion of India with lot of trading happening which was taken over by British following 1799.
  • Else those who do not appreciate the differences are bound to face them again and again.

Doctor Sleep, Midway

Watched two movies as mentioned in the subject line.
Midway
This movie was watched at Cinepolis.
I liked the movie.
I am sure Japanese did not have a chance.
Once America was fully mobilized they were bound to lose.
Just look at the map of the world.
Japan is an island. America is a continent.
Japan was bound to get smashed in Ww2.
Sometimes bravery is not enough. You need a giant like structure to support you.
The statistics that 250000 Chinese were killed by the Japanese for making Americans escape who bombed Japan and landed in Chinese held territory is simply tragic.
Doctor Sleep
This movie was watched at Inox.
Superb must watch movie.
Those who liked "The Shining" will bound to like this movie.
It deals with dreams and immortality.
Movie can kick start your grey cells.
Worth watching.

Apocalypse WWI and WWII

  • Watched the above series in Airtel XStream.
  • The name of the series is Apocalypse WWI and WWII.
  • As the name suggests this series deals with World War 1 and World War 2.
  • Apocalypse WWI has five episodes.
  • Apocalypse WWII has six episodes.
  • I mean I have seen the series "World War 2 in Colour" on Netflix.
  • First I watched Apocalypse WWI on Xstream.
  • Airtel only suggested it though notification on my mobile.
  • I tried to download it and watch it and then after Google Search realised that since Airtel Xstream does not own the content it cannot be downloaded and can only be watched through streaming mode.
  • Then I tried to download XStream App on Amazon Firestick but it just does not happen that way.
  • XStream has got its own "stick" and it can be bought on Flipkart.
  • Else you can watch it on Airtel DTH XStream Set top box.
  • But Airtel XStrem app on mobile works fine.
  • On Amazon Firestick there is the Silk browser and using the browser you can open websites.
  • And Airtel Xstream has a website just like Netflix and others which have website+app.
  • So I watched it in a combination of Mobile and Firestick using the Silk browser.
  • It was great to see moving images from World War 1 and in colour.
  • World War 1 itself became highly mechanized towards the end.
  • World War 2 presentation was also brutal.
  • It was shown how war is futile and waste.
  • Hitler took the world and his own country Germany to ruins.
  • United Nations was formed at the end of World War 2 and its main aim was to prevent war and I feel history shows that it has not been successful as powerful countries still harass weaker countries on various issues.
  • Let us not forget the Korean War or Vietnam War or Middle East Wars.
  • Let us hope better sense prevails and people realise that war is no solution to problems of any country.
  • People should come first.
  • Also racism is bad for the world.
  • As was in World War 2, there was racism against the Jews among others in Europe which led to the extermination.
  • There was racism of White man against the Yellow man which resulted in Korean War and then Vietnam War.
  • Second World war did not end this racism and racial superiority.
  • Now that is the reason for conflict in the world.
  • People need to realise that our creator is one and the same.

The Current War, Overcomer

Watched two movies as mentioned in the subject line above.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Current War
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Forum Mall.
  • I liked the movie.
  • It shows us an aspect of history which we may not have knowledge about because it wasn't taught in schools and stuff.
  • Now that we have seen the movie we may be inclined to do more research about it.
  • I will say it is very important to know about our past because it has already happened and it should give us an idea how the present has come to be as it is.
  • This movie was supposed to release in 2017 but due to Weinstein and #Metoo controversies this has got delayed and saw the light of the day in 2019.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Overcomer
  •  This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Forum Mall.
  • I liked the movie.
  • Very good "Christian" movie with family values and stuff.
  • After watching this movie we can say that though we may follow other religions we lead lives which are like shown in the movie.
  • In other words general public will also like the movie.
  • This movie can be shown to school kids and groups of people who can go directly from Church to the Cinema hall.
  • Definitely worth watching.

Housefull 4, The Sky is Pink, Dream Girl, Terminator Dark Fate

Watched four movies as mentioned above in the subject line.
------------------------------------------------------------
Housefull 4
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Forum Mall.
  • Full comedy movie.
  • But after watching the movie you feel "drained" .
  • Still okay to be watched once.
  • And if you do not watch it you will never know how bad or how good(?) the movie is.
------------------------------------------------------------
The Sky is Pink
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Forum Mall.
  • Full emotional movie.
  • Movie brings tear to the eye.
  • Okay to be watched once without any problem.
------------------------------------------------------------
Dream Girl
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Vega City Mall.
  • I liked the movie.
  • Ayushman Khurana by doing such roles proves that he is "the man".
  • Surely he has got big future as he is not willing to be afraid and try out different kind of roles.
------------------------------------------------------------
Terminator Dark Fate
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Vega City Mall.
  • I liked the movie.
  • John Connor happens to be Dani and the movie is worth watching for all.
  • In spite of what the critics say, this movie is the way to future as it is "empowering" for women.
  • Even if the audience is predominantly male, the makers have shown a future which is very likely.
  • Maybe the makers want more and more women to become Terminator fans like for Star Wars among other series.
------------------------------------------------------------
