Quest for "Super Quality" Programs

But the new DTH regime had all restrictions in place. Programs were strictly monitored and no "illegal" programs could be shown. Meanwhile in my case, I moved to Hyderabad in 1996 and I was staying in hostel and was without TV. So I began to visit movie halls. I was staying in Kachiguda Cross Roads and just by walking one could access close to 15-20 theatres. So I saw several movies that way. Also I did not need the   "program guide" anymore. What movies were on could be known by looking and the posters available in Deccan Chronicle Newspaper (A 2-4 page spread used to come everyday).
Then I moved to Mumbai in 1998 and our flat was at Juhu. Since it was own flat, I got my own TV and own Cable connection. Our cable connection was part of 7Star Network a local cable operator catering to areas like Juhu, Versova, Andheri (West). In Juhu, there was a local CD/Video Cassatte shop who was the partner for 7Star and he use to show "uncensored movies" through Laser Disk, CD. He had given a "Set-top" box which was analogue one not like these days "digital boxes". One could have a basic cable connection or one could have the Set top box for which there were additional costs. I recollect the box was Rs 4200 and every three or six months he used to take additional money in addition to normal cable fees.
In Mumbai, later I moved from Juhu to Kandivli, there was no set top box at that time in 2002 in Kandivli. But initially the cable operator used to show "Japanese adult channels" late at night. No box was required for the same. Then mysteriously it stopped. What might have happened some "old man" or "Old retired man" might have seen it and complained and then the cable operator would have no option but to block it.
To be continued in next post.
