People I have come to know that one can fight depression by physical exercise. It does not have to be of strenuous nature. Even mild exercise would work.
Depression is very bad and can lead to suicide or suicide attempt. Due to depression we may feel rejected and dejected and all sorts of bad thoughts may enter our minds.
"An idle mind is the devil's workshop." We have heard this saying so very often.
But it may not only be for the "wrong things" which we may do when we are idle. It would also be due to the very nature of 'devil'. As we have heard the lord of the "hell" is the Devil. And doing sin will lead us to hell. And suicide is a sin. And depression leads to suicide. Depression is the result of a variety of reasons. But to tackle it we need to do simple physical activities and it would 'go away'.
We cannot change our lives and outcomes. We do not control external factors. But we sure control our own lives. We can make a positive impact on our lives and that would have an impact on others.
Here, I would like to advice all that never leave your jobs. Your job gives you safety, security, income and whatever may be certain tasks to accomplish and that would become the 'purpose of your lives'.
In case you leave your jobs, you become idle and then again as we have observed, "idle mind....".
Also depression leads to sadness. Sadness leads to a weakening of the "desire to live". And desire to live is the one which gives deep inside, right from organs and cells and up to molecular and atom level in our bodies a strength. A strength to fight attacks from harmful micro-bodies and diseases like cancer and others.
Thus we have to cultivate a 'desire to live'. I have seen my mother in last stages of cancer. Right up to the very last day, she 'wanted to live' and had a 'deep desire that she be saved'. But that was not to be. She lost consciousness a few hours before her death. And up to that time, the desire to live was there.
We need to have this 'desire to live' even when we are healthy. This desire to live will fill us with positive thoughts and will help us survive in this hostile world.
