Ha Ha. Today one of the funniest news has come out. Yesterday, Supreme Court commuted the death sentence given to associates of Rajiv Gandhi killers to life in prison.
And today Madam a.k.a. Ammaji of Tamil Nadu if you know who I mean announced that they would be released. I mean what a joke? It was simply a masterstroke. I mean, I do not know how law and order works but I suspect it is a State subject and not Central Govt. one and so Ammaji was able to release them almost immediately.
I will say it is a very sad day. In the sense that along with Rajiv several more people were killed and scores more injured. It forever changed the history and political landscape of our country. Where is justice for the family members of those people who were murdered in cold blood on that fateful day in 1991. Where is justice for them.
In the same time our Hon'ble Govt. was never behind in assassinating/killing/hanging Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru. Why? Because they were Muslims?
The Mumbai attack was a shady operation and truth will never be known. Because they silenced the only voice that could ever speak the truth and that was Kasab. Also, we can hear almost daily operations in Kashmir and many people being killed by the Govt. (both Army and Police).
I feel our Govt. in never behind in prosecuting Muslims but when it comes to Hindus it is never behind in delaying tactics and finally releasing them like it happened today.
I feel that this does bear well for the human race in general. It may be good for the country. But we have to speak about human rights. Why apply one yardstick to one community and another yardstick to another.
Appeasement of one community at the cost of other. Also, it sends a dangerous precedent, that people can get away with mass murder like bombing and assassination.
Lastly, my personal opinion, I am in favour of total and complete abolishment of death penalty. A single life saved is much more valuable than a lot of things we can think of. But not in case of "selective abolishment of death penalty" like it is happening now. Also, rescuing a few from the clutches of death in the hands of Govt. while killing several on the other side is simply not acceptable.
