The Accidental Prime Minister

Watched the above movie as mentioned in the subject line.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Accidental Prime Minister
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Koramangala
  • I liked the movie.
  • I will say the movie has thrashed all the leaders including BJP and not just Congress ones.
  • But the movie is not disrespectful towards Sonia Gandhi I felt.
  • And the movie shows Narendra Modi as the Messiah.
  • The so called Messiah who will lead his people to the promised lands.
  • And in that case this movie is like a "propaganda movie".
  • The movie is most disrespectful towards Dr Manmohan Singh who lead the country for 10 years and that is sad.
  • It is bad situation for the country while the leader who lead the country at times of hatred and instability for 10 years gets treated like this while Pranab Mukherjee was awarded Bharat Ratna.
  • Dr Manmohan Singh is more deserving of Bharat Ratna than any other present leader.
  • Several situations are covered in the movie.
  • (Spoiler Alert)
  • Naveen Patnaik has also been shown in the movie and treated like subordinate to PM whereas in actuality CM is as important as PM I think.
  • Communists leaving Govt is shown. When they oppose the Nuclear deal.
  • Narsimha Rao being denied funeral and resting place in Delhi is shown.
  • Radia tapes are shown.
  • Anna Hazare protests are shown.
  • The movie also brushes off as a joke where notional loss and actual loss in terms of 2G and Coalgate is shown
  • That is bad for the country because the BJP came to power riding on a crest of so called scams of Coal, 2G and Commonwealth games.
  • But in reality there was no scam.
  • The coal was never extracted.
  • 2G was a scam in sense at what rate the 2G Spectrum could have been sold. Now when 4G has come and 5G is coming it is even bigger scam if people are prosecuted based on 2G.
  • Commonwealth games was actually held and it was a big respect for India.
  • Also World Cup of Cricket was held.
  • But BJP propaganda will portray those as scams.
  • BJP is actually looting the country where black money of their own people was conveniently converted to white using "Demonetisation" as a tool.
  • Everything in whatever BJP does is a scam including the "Swach Bharat Abhiyan" or "Giving Gas Cylinder connection" and so on.
  • Words will not suffice as to how corrupt and morally depraved the BJP Govt is.
  • Coming back to the movie.
  • The movie deals with the events leading up to the release of the book "The Accidental Prime Minister"
  • And since the book is named as thus, this movie is actually a movie on the book or movie on the events leading to the publication of the book.
  • The consequence of the release of the book that Dr. Manmohan Singh never met Sanjay Baru the writer ever again.
  • How could he? Obviously being PM comes with its own sets of perks and Sanjay Baru extinguished the prospect of Dr Manmohan Singh becoming Pm again by publishing this book which defamed his boss PM or "ex-boss".

Manikarnika-Queen of Jhansi

Watched the movie as mentioned in the subject line.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Manikarnika-Queen of Jhansi
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Forum Mall.
  • It is too good movie.
  • I am inclined to rate it 5 Star.
  • This is perhaps the best movie of Kangna till date.
  • Danny Denzogpa is also such a good actor. He has got a role of lifetime. I do not understand why he does not get more roles in Bollywood like he used to in 1980's and 90's.
  • She has proved that a slice of history can be captured perfectly if right effort is made.
  • This movie deserves to be the biggest blockbuster of all time.
  • It will also do well in overseas market especially China if right marketing is done.
  • The history of Rani of Jhansi is captured quite perfectly.
  • We have read about her in books but only we get to see her come to life in this movie.
  • (Spoiler Alert)
  • She is Brahmin by birth not Kshatriya and adopted by the Maratha King.
  • She does not lead her son to battle carrying on her back as we imagined.
  • Her (adopted) son died post 50 years completion (old age for that time).
  • Her actual son and husband are poisoned by own people.
  • She leads Jhansi as widow (breaking custom) (widows are supposed to retire).
  • Her resistance as Jhansi proves futile and ultimately she leaves while Jhansi is laid to waste by the victors.
  • She goes to Gwalior and there she leads the Army and dies in battle.
  • Thus she does not die in Jhansi like we imagined.
  • The Gwalior resistance was like a "rebellion" as the King of Gwalior is a "compliant bitch" to the British.
  • We can safely say that whatever resistance was there to British from the Kings and Queens of Indian subcontinent was effectively ended in 1857-58 Rebellion.
  • The Kings and Queens who existed in India post 1857-58 till Independence if India were "Compliant Bitches" or "Puppet Regime" of the British.
  • It is also amazing while Tipu Sultan is controversial and Hindu Extremists are protesting against him, basically Rani of Jhansi and Tipu Sultan were one and the same.
  • They resisted the British and Rani of Jhansi is universally accepted while Tipu Sultan is protested which should not be.
  • What Rani of Jhansi did in 19th Century, Tipu Sultan did in late 18th Century.
  • The British deposed Tipu Sultan and put a "Compliant Bitch Ruler" or "Puppet Regime" in his place as the ruler of Mysore State.
  • Post 1857-58, the job of getting Independence for India was now left to Civil Society and mass movement and Kings and Queens were like "Napunsak" or ineffective to get rid of British Rule.
  • In such case this movie is like a masterpiece as it gives us chance to ponder over our history.
  • If Rani of Jhansi was not that fierce as shown in the movie (perhaps she was more than what is shown we do not know) her legend would not have lived on like it has.

Uri, Second Act

Watched two movies as mentioned in the subject line.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Uri
  • Watched this movie at Lakshmi Theatre, Tavarakere.
  • I liked the movie
  • This movie is like the propaganda movie we know of.
  • It will show the opponent as weak and incompetent and show the heroes as real heroes.
  • It is like Hollywood movies where they used to show Soviets or Nazis as weak and ineffective and American or British heroes as real heroes
  • The first scene where surgical strikes were carried out across the border in Myanmar is accompanied by very good background music I thought.
  •  But leaving all else, I watched the movie on Monday and as we know Monday is the day of the Moon.
  • We know moon is barren and lifeless and exposed to vagaries of the universe and solar system.
  • Moon also acts as a "shield" to help preserve life on earth. We can know by the fact that moon is riddled with craters and it has taken a lot of "hits" over millions of years.
  • We should be glad that our planet Earth supports life.
  • And we humans have finite resources and we should use this opportunity given to us in this planet to help one another and help sustain life.
  • Killing each other for whatever reason and military adventurism solves no problems.
  • We should help one another and this planet and that is the need of the hour.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Second Act
  • This movie was watched at PVR Cinemas, Koramangala.
  • This is unlike "Maid in Manhattan", J-Lo's last movie in New York which I know of.
  • Here the "second act" is how J-Lo's character gets a second shot to be a mother to the baby she gave up for adoption when she was a teen.
  • Overall this movie is good for a "fuzzy feel good feeling", kind of like 10:45 PM movie shows I used to watch at Sterling Theatre near VT almost two decades back.

KGF, The Mule, Mary Poppins Returns

Watched three more movies as mentioned in the subject line.
---------------------------------------------------------------
KGF
  • This movie was watched at PVR at Vega City Mall.
  • I liked the movie.
  • If we compare the movie maybe it is as good as Zero but far better than Simmba.
  • Simmba is a crap movie.
  • Zero is a classic.
  • This movie could be crap but the way scenes are picturised they appear like poetry.
  • The scenes of violence never appear "too violent".
  • And that is why this is a very different kind of movie and deserves watching.
  • I am glad that people around India finally realise what good movies Kannada movies can be.
  • Kannada movies has long been ignored by mainstream India.
  • While hundreds of Tamil and Telugu movies have been released and are recognised and have become quite popular with the Indian masses.
  • Tamil and Telugu movies have been dubbed as well as remade in hundreds.
  • Now Kannada movie KGF makes its presence felt.
  • But I will say something that is that this movie only proves my theory that Kannada owes its origin with Arabs, i.e. Iraq, Saudi and Egypt. Whereas Telugu and Andhra in particular and almost 90% of India has its origin with Iran/Persians.
  • And this movie proves it.
  • The conflict between Iran and Arabs is more than just ordinary conflict. Recent days it has become conflict between Shia and Sunni.
  • Majority of Indians who have their origins in central Asia have "Shia" roots we can generalise even though the religion of Islam came much later.
  • Kannada are a small but vocal minority who have "Arab roots" and thus are Sunni in nature.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Mule
  • This movie was watched at Cinepolis, Bannerghatta Road.
  • What a movie.
  • I am glad that person like Clint Eastwood is still working.
  • I mean he is close to 90 years for God's sake.
  • The movie is also too good.
  • I am afraid, Hollywood movies are a league of their own.
  • Bollywood movies including Telugu and South movies cannot come even close.
  • That is why this movie is worth watching.
  • In the movie also Clint Eastwood portrays his age quite perfectly.
  • "Spoiler Alert"
  • When the gardener/agriculturist is wiped out due to "online portals", he becomes "a mule" to transport illicit drugs.
  • I mean a movie like this cannot be made more perfectly than it is.
  • Not even in an alternate universe.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Mary Poppins Returns
  • This movie was watched at PVR cinemas, Koramangala
  • I liked the movie.
  • The have shown a pre electricity Britain.
  • That was the age of steam engine and oil lamps.
  • Contrary to what may be imagined Mary Poppins does not have a "fully dominating" role.
  • Other actors also get their due and coverage.
  • Mary Poppins dominates the screen for maybe 50% of the movie.

Simmba, Bumblebee

Watched two movies as mentioned in teh subject line.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Simmba
  • This movie was watched at Lakshmi theatre Tavarakere.
  • It is okay to be watched once.
  • I would say this movie legitimises encounters and that is wrong thing.
  • According to me, the police duty should be to protect all.
  • And not bump off criminals
  • And shoot them inside a police station is the worst thing that can be done.
  • No matter how the heinous the crime, it is the job of police to protect all.
  • It is the job of courts to convict a person.
  • And death penalty should be banned.
  • If there is no punishment in this world, there is always the Court of Lord Almighty.
  • But shoot people who have been in the custody of police as safekeeping is worst that can happen.
  • In 2012, Nirbhaya case happened and people thought it shortcoming of the UPA Govt and in 2014, UPA lost.
  • Now Rohit Shetty has made such a movie, a case like Nirbhaya can never shake the nation's consciousness anymore.
  • And so BJP rule is safeguarded.
  • I am sure if BJP wins in 2019, Rohit Shetty will be rewarded as through his movies he made people reaction such that there will be no reaction like what happened in 2012.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Bumblebee
  • This movie was watched at Balaji theatre, Tavarakere.
  • I remember the last movie I saw in Balaji theatre was "Tum Mile", Soha Ali Khan and Emraan Hashmi starrer in 2009.
  • So after 9 long years I stepped into the hall.
  • Movie is okay.
  • Perhaps not as big as Transformers movie but according to size.
  • I mean Bumblebee is tiny and according to that the movie is okay I guess.
  • What I could not get is that when the Autobots can travel Light years to Earth why they need Earth satellites to communicate.
  • I mean it is okay they use satellite to transmit around the earth or track around the earth.
  • But for intergalactic communication across the cosmos, they surely must have better systems in built in them.
  • Also Bumblebee almost gets destroyed several times in the movie, still he comes back with full force and firepower, I mean how is that possible.
  • It is okay if he just "comes around", but he comes around full "battle ready".
  • What is the source of power?
  • Guess you leave your brain outside the theatre to watch these kind of movies.

History of Bangladesh

  • Just now elections were concluded in Bangladesh and congratulations to Sheikh Hasina for winning another term.
  • But I feel Indians have nothing to celebrate about this.
  • Indians feeling happy and celebrating is like "Begani Shaadi mein Abdulla Diwana" meaning "Rejoicing at someone else's victory". It is pointless and meaningless bordering on crazy.
  • I will share few links which will make the history of Bangladesh too apparent.
  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_coups_in_Bangladesh
  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Sheikh_Mujibur_Rahman
  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh_Hasina
  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khaleda_Zia
  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziaur_Rahman
  • After studying the above links, I can draw a few conclusions.
  • Also I have read some earlier material regarding Bangladesh and if you go through the points I have mentioned below, you will realise that Indians have nothing to rejoice about who is in power in Bangladesh.
  • When India was getting independence in 1947, Jinnah wanted Calcutta to be the capital of East Pakistan but due to reasons where your guess is as good as mine that was not to be.
  • In 1948, India took over Kashmir and Pakistan objected and so the situation turned into a stalemate.
  • In 1948 India invaded Hyderabad and annexed it.
  • In 1950 China invaded Tibet and captured it.
  • In 1959 Tibetan uprising was there which China crushed brutally.
  • In 1961 Goa was invaded and India incorporated those territories into India.
  • In 1962, China invaded India and captured Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh. And then China withdrew from Arunachal Pradesh.
  • In 1965, Pakistan sensing India's weakness thought would capture Kashmir through Operation Gibraltar but they were beaten back.
  • Since 1965, India and USSR came closer and closer when Lal Bahudur Shastri was suspiciously poisoned by the Soviets in Soviet territory (Tashkent).
  • Indira Gandhi then worked closely with USSR to dismember Pakistan which was acting like a thorn in Soviet Union backside. Remember Soviet union stretched close to border of Afghanistan in its hey days (there was no Tajikistan, Uzbekistan etc)
  • Pakistan had allied with US and had opened its territories for military intelligence against the Soviets.
  • So USSR agency KGB worked in Indian and Soviet territories along with Indian authorities to dismember Pakistan. The supporting video proves it.
  • They gave training to the Commandos etc and the think tank People behind Bangladesh or who were to lead the country to the future.
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl2aIkJvzMw
  • We can know how Soviets or Communists ruled the territories surrounding Bangladesh for decades to come especially where there are Bengali speaking public namely West Bengal and Tripura.
  • That would not have been possible if there was no Soviet involvement in the formation of Bangladesh.
  • Now there was 1971 cyclone in Bangladesh which was mismanaged and then West Pakistan were not willing to hand over power to the Sheikh Mujibur Rehman from East Pakistan.
  • Add to that there was more than a 1200 kms of Indian territory separating the two Pakistans.
  • It is a logistical nightmare.
  • Then India intervened and defeated Pakistan and West Pakistan soldiers surrendered.
  • Subsequently Bangladesh formed and it dragged on.
  • The event of Sheikh Mujibur Rehman assassination was a tragedy and that is the event which is affecting politcs even today.
  • Sheikh Hasina is Sheikh Mujibur Rehman daughter who was at West Germany at the time of assassination.
  • Subsequently she came to Delhi, India and waited for opportune time to return to Bangladesh her home country.
  • Now who assasinated Sheikh Mujibur Rehman? Maybe it might not be known ever. Maybe it was the CIA. It is logical. Pakistan and US were allies and they lost Bangaldesh. India and USSR had ally in Sheikh Mujibur Rehman. So the CIA eliminated Sheikh Mijibur Rehman.
  • Then there was General Zia Ur Rehman. His wife was Begum Khaleda Zia.
  • As far as we Indians know there are only two leaders of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina.
  • And in 2018 Khaleda Zia has been sent to jail for 5 long years.
  • When she emerges, her career would be effectively be over.
  • Form Indian view, anyone in power in Bangladesh has to be friendly with India in particular and West in general.
  • Else they will not survive.
  • In the Cold War era things were different, there were two blocks led by USSR and USA.
  • Now there is a general bloc, that of International nations.
  • And since India is such a big fish in the Indian subcontinent area, Bangladesh has to subscribe to it.
  • If we look at the "Hindu" article above given by link, we find out that BNP i.e. the party of Khaleda Zia was a force to reckon with till 2008.
  • Now we have to assume that in 2008 elections were held perfectly in "free and fair conditions" as there was coup in 2007 and there must have been tremendous International scrutiny for 2008 elections.
  • The BNP boycotted the elections in 2014 and now in 2018 elections they simply got wiped away, "faded from public memory".
  • Now there might be allegations of vote rigging and so on. But my point is whoever was in power would have done it.
  • Now the West and India will favour someone who will carry out their "dictates".
  • They are hardly bothered about the Bangladeshi people.
  • Any one party would have dominated those people one way or the other.
  • Thus I will say it hardly matters to Indians whoseover is in power in Bangladesh.
  • Nationalist Hindus like RSS will never achieve what they give out in posters and that of incorporation of entire Indian subcontinent as one unit.
  • These hard core Hindus may want the land of Bangladesh but they are not interested in the people who are I read somewhere 99% Sunni and with one ethnic background.
  • Now where will the people go from the lands.
  • One can't carry out genocide against 150 million people without destroying the land and everything around it.
  • Thus it hardly matters to Indians.
  • Added 4th January, 2019
    • Pakistan was dismembered by Soviet Union and India efforts in 1971 but Pakistan got its chance for sweet revenge against Soviets when it was staging area for Global Jihadis (Mujaheedin) during the Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan.
    • The result was Soviet Union got its own "Vietnam" and had to withdraw after losses and then due to global politics the Iron Curtain fell and Soviet Union collapsed and broke into 15 countries.
    • Communism simply melted away resulting in an International community of nations like we see today. (Contrary to popular belief it is not Unipolar or Multipolar world but a community of nations who have to work together now)
    • It may also be "Law of Karma" at work. What you give you get back in return with interest (very likely). So happened with Soviet Union and Pakistan.
    • Also we have read reports that 3 million were killed in the Bangladesh War for Independence. I will say that it is false news, fake news.
    • The actual casualties would have been far lesser maybe 1/10th or even less.
    • The 3 million is myth. Sheikh Mujibur Rehman must have told 3 million were "lost" and it is not the same as "died".
    • Those who were "lost" became refugees and then citizens of India. Or were simply dislocated from one area to another.
    • Also half of casualties or more perhaps would have come from the Freedom Fighters and Indian forces backed by Soviets who targeted the people who were "Unionists". No one talks about their human rights abuses.
    • Also similarly 1 million women were raped is also very likely "false news".
    • People indulging in "fooling around" cannot be termed as such.
    • It is fake news to legitimize the Bangladeshi freedom struggle subsequent to the event.
    • Like they say "history is written by winners". It should be "false history is written by the winners" as no one questions them subsequently.

Zero Movie

  • Watched the Shah Rukh Khan movie Zero at PVR Cinemas, Koramangala.
  • I liked the movie.
  • Inspite of what has been said about the movie, I liked it.
  • As an Indian one should have no problem watching the movie.
  • This movie is made by Indians about Indians and for Indians.
  • Any other peoples may not like it.
  • I salute Shah Rukh Khan for this effort.
  • He made his height short.
  • He knows he is King Khan but still he made himself as dwarf.
  • Basically he tested the world, the environment everything.
  • He made such a bad movie where his entire larger than life persona is simply destroyed.
  • He tried making such a kind of movie with "Fan".
  • He is testing.
  • Let us see how much hit he takes.
  • He is a very successful businessman.
  • Surely he can take such kind of risk.
  • And I feel he is not much affected.
  • People criticised the movie but if anything Shah Rukh Khan only emerged stronger.
  • In fact if such a movie can make 100 crores than nothing like it.
  • People will still flock to theatres to watch SRK next movie.
  • They will still go to Bandra Bandstand to watch SRK outside his residence and so on.
  • Coming back to the movie, SRK goes to Mars in the movie.
  • And if it would have been a Hollywood movie, they would have focused mainly on the Mars trip.
  • But since this is an Indian movie, they focused on human emotions like love story and heartbreaks and marriage and so on.
  • The thing is one should forget if a trip to Mars is ever possible.
  • Just watch the movie.
  • Here I would say that I watched KRK review and I do agree with his points
    • There was no need to show Anushka Sharma with speech impairment. Just showing that she was bound to wheelchair would have been enough.
    • Next if Indians go to US and become astronauts and scientists then where will US people go? They will not go to "graze on green grass like cattle" will they?
  • Zeeshan Ayub also does a good role in the movie I must mention.
  • Basically all the people have done their roles perfectly.
  • The film can be divided into three chapters : At Meerut, At Mumbai, At US (NASA).
  • Worth watching according to me.
  • Maybe if not big screen than on TV or online.
  • ADDED 4th JAN 2019
    • The reason SRK made this Zero movie the way it is is because he was harassed when he made Raees.
    • People from Shiv Sena and BJP had demanded the film be banned.
    • Then they relented and wanted the movie to be screened to them before release.
    • It means that Censor Board has no meaning in the country.
    • These people the so called Hindu Nationalists under the garb of nationalism are a law unto themselves.
    • SRK had to show certain scenes in the movie Raees with lot of "pruning".
    • In fact in Raees, SRK a big hero was made as a Zero by these so called Hindu nationalists who are basically Goons and Goondas who demanded a lot of changes.
    • So he made Zero which was initially Zero to begin with and no one would have any objection to begin with.
    • In effect it must have been deeply satisfying to the SRK soul to make a movie liek Zero.
    • So he made a movie which was already "Zero"
    • Another point SRK has done tremendous effort for national integration.
    • Basically SRK has his origin in Pathan culture of Afghanistan.
    • And has respect for Punjabi and South (mainly Tamil) culture.
    • That is why in majority of movies Punjabis and Tamilians are shown in favourable light including in Zero.
    • Anushka Sharma is half Afghani and half Punjabi in the movie.
    • Madhavan is Tamil scientist and so on.
    • SRK has done his effort for national integration like he has always done in his earlier movies as well.
