- People this post is to outline that I have stopped watching WWE once more.
- Now we need to go to a bit of history.
- When Cable TV came to India after 1991 and the First Gulf War, WWE was one of the shows people in India got exposed to.
- In TNT channel they used to show WWE or WCW shows.
- At that time I did not use to watch either WWE or WCW.
- I used to watch MTV and Channel V.
- Fast forward several years, I moved to Hyderabad (1996), Mumbai (1998), Chennai(2002) and finally to Bangalore(2004) and at no stage of life was I following WWE or watching their matches.
- I used to watch movies or visit Cinemas or watch Music Channels.
- Then in 2008 I took Dish TV and in 2013 I took Videocon D2H, then again I never used to tune in to Sports Channel for WWE.
- But I new WWE existed and WWF earlier became WWE.
- Then in 2014 I took Tata Sky Connection and I began to watch WWE.
- Why I began watching WWE because it was a thing which was "regular" and punctual".
- WWE shows happened every week as a pattern.
- First there was Monday Night Raw, then Tuesday Smackdown, then Wednesday NXT and the Main event and WWE Superstars (I used to catch up online as it was not being shown on TV).
- In 2014 at 11 PM they used to show on Ten Sports Mean Gene Okerlund and Rene Young co-hosting a program which used to show past WWE matches and stuff.
- Watching programs like above can generate interest in the Genre.
- Then the programs used to repeat every week in newer and newer episodes.
- Slowly we get to realise that "the latest" is all that matters.
- Same is applicable to news as well to WWE.
- So from 2014 till 2017 I used to watch WWE regularly. Not only WWE but also TNA Impact.
- I saw how WWE was being shown 2-3 days later and then they began showing live.
- In 2017 what happened, Carnival Cinemas began giving "Moviecard" which allowed you to watch unlimited movie in theatre.
- Since Carnival Cinemas was located 15kms away in my town, I had to make a choice. No longer was it possible to watch WWE and movies at the same time. I had to drop watching WWE to enjoy movies on big screen.
- That continued till 2019 when there was world cup of cricket and India defeated Pakistan.
- Soon we were bombarded on social media with images of Kohli
- Doing it since the early 90s
- That was it. I subscribed to Sports Channel once more and began watching WWE once more.
- Because we can get sick with certain images and we want more images and video to get rid of the "sickness"
- WWE stars were a different class together and they used to fight to prove themselves and not make poses like we get bombarded with them and I continued watching WWE till the Covid Pandemic hit.
- It was okay with no audience, again with the WWE trainees around it was also okay.
- But when thunder-drome debuted it was too much to swallow.
- In a sense you see wrestlers watching people who are watching them on the screens and you are watching them at home.
- You are watching on your screen watching people on their screen watching wrestlers watch people watching them on screen while they are wrestling.
- It is the future and future can drive you crazy scenario emerged.
- Also the Rey Mysterio-Seth Rollins feud was too much for me to digest.
- Since I used to record on Tata Sky Box and watch at leisure I began forwarding the breaks and then began forwarding the entrance and then fights I used to watch at 2 x speed and then 4 x speed and then for Rey-Seth segment full fast forward at 32 x speed used to happen.
- The commentary used to missed during the fast forwards but whatever the superstars used to say I used to hear.
- Compared to Fast forward on Internet or Youtube where only 2x is supported with dialogues, it Tata Sky maximum speed is 32 X with no sound support only visual can be seen.
- Recently I watched the full show at 32 x speed and then I realised why bother at all.
- Just stop watching and problem solved.
- I had recorded several programs of WWE and Impact Wrestling in 320 GB built in Hard Disk Drive in Tata Sky, I began deleting all those.
- And the Hard Drive which was 100% full became 50% full.
- Thus I have stopped recording, watching, following WWE and Impact since last week.
- Maybe when live audience returns or WWE begins moving from place to place like earlier pre-Covid times, I may come back to watch, I just don't know for now.
